Meet Alexandra Rutwind, DMD, MS

Dr. Alexandra Rutwind is a periodontist and implant surgeon with a broad clinical background and a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to care. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine, where she graduated alongside Dr. Iman Abdeshahian. She then completed a one-year General Practice Residency at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, a Level 1 trauma center, where she gained extensive experience in surgical procedures and complex dental care.
After residency, Dr. Rutwind practiced as a general dentist for several years and went on to co-own and operate two multi-doctor dental practices in Vancouver, Canada. During this time, she treated a wide range of patients and conditions and developed a deep appreciation for whole-mouth health, interdisciplinary care, and long-term treatment planning. This experience allows her to approach periodontal treatment with a comprehensive, wellness-focused perspective.
Wanting to elevate her surgical expertise, Dr. Rutwind pursued advanced training in periodontics and implant surgery at the USC Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry. She earned her periodontal specialty certificate along with a Master of Science in Biomedical Implants and Tissue Engineering.
Dr. Rutwind’s clinical focus includes periodontal plastic surgery, dental implants, complex extractions, bone and soft-tissue regeneration, sinus augmentation, and full-arch implant rehabilitation. She emphasizes gentle techniques, careful planning, and treatment options tailored to each patient’s health goals and comfort.
Patients appreciate Dr. Rutwind for her calm presence, clear communication, and compassionate approach. She takes time to listen, educate, and partner with patients so they feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their care.
Dr. Rutwind remains committed to continued learning and regularly participates in advanced education focused on periodontal regeneration, biologics, digital planning, and laser technology. She is actively involved in surgical study clubs and hands-on training programs to ensure she provides modern, evidence-based care aligned with a holistic philosophy.
